LTS DRESS CODE
An enforced uniform dress code helps contribute to LTS’s academic environment. Just as dress codes address professional standards in the workplace, the LTS uniform dress code promotes the purpose of academics. All students are expected to dress in a neat attractive fashion reflecting pride in themselves and their school. It is both the parents’ and the child’s responsibility to ensure compliance with these standards. The LTS mandatory uniform dress code options are as follows:
GIRLS:
Bottoms:
· Pants - Plain navy blue or khaki
· Jeans - Plain dark blue denim (no fading or designs)
· Shorts/culottes/skirts - Must be below the fingertips.
· Capris - Plain navy blue, dark blue denim or khaki –proper fitting, no embellishments.
· Dress/jumper - Plain navy blue, red, khaki (no pin stripes or design). Jumpers must have a dress code appropriate shirt underneath. Must be below fingertips.
· No tight fitting or big/baggy bottoms will be allowed
Tops:
· SOLID Navy blue, red or white shirts
· All shirts must be solid in color with no pin stripes or logos of any kind with the exception of the LTS logo shirt.
· A collar and sleeves are required.
· All shirts must be tucked in.
Tights/leggings/coats/sweaters/sweatshirts must be opaque and in school colors of red, navy, or white. All jewelry shall remain on the owner. Jewelry shall be worn in the manner designed. Pierced body jewelry, other than non dangling earrings in the ears, shall not be allowed.
Hair shall be neatly groomed. Extreme hairstyles, cuts, or colors are not acceptable. Bangs shall be worn above the eyebrows or pinned away from the eyes.
No face make-up or eye make-up shall be worn at school by girls in grades K-6. Minimal, non-distractive make-up may be worn by girls in grades 7-8. The make-up must compliment skin tones and be natural in color.
BOYS:
Bottoms:
· Pants - Plain navy blue or khaki
· Jeans - Plain dark blue denim (no fading, designs, or cargo style)
· Shorts- Must be below the fingertips
· No tight fitting or big/baggy bottoms will be allowed.
· All bottoms must be worn at the natural waistline.
Tops:
· SOLID Navy blue, red or white shirts
· All shirts must be solid in color with no pin stripes or logos of any kind with the exception of the LTS logo shirts.
· A collar and sleeves are required.
· All shirts must be tucked in.
Coats/sweaters/sweatshirts must be in school colors.
Hair shall be neatly groomed and trimmed. Boys shall have their hair cut above the ear, halfway above the eyebrows, and above the collar. No hair tails are permitted. Extreme hairstyles, cuts, or colors are not acceptable. No caps shall be worn at school except for sun protection on the playground. Caps can only be worn in the appropriate manner. No earrings or pierced body jewelry shall be worn at school.
SHOES:
Shoes must be closed toe and adhere securely at the heel and be tied properly if they were designed to do so. (Flip-flops and shoes made solely of flip flop material (i.e., Crocs) and “Jellies” are not acceptable.“ Heelies” or roller shoes can only be worn if the wheels are removed.
Issues of improper dress are addressed by the teacher with a note to the parent. Repeat offenders shall be counseled by the principal.
Parents
Parents are urged to discuss the LTS uniform dress code with their children to foster thorough understanding. If questions occur, the school nurse, teacher, or principal may be contacted.
In support of the dress code, parents shall wear modest attire when on campus for lunch, visiting classrooms, or volunteering.
