Legacy Mustang Families,

Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year! My name is Christine Fitzsimmons and this is my third year being a part of our amazing Legacy Team. For those parents and students who are new to our campus, it may be hard to believe but I am a native Tucsonan! I grew up in the far northwest part of town and went through the Marana Unified School District. I received a scholarship to play basketball at the University of New Mexico and finished out my schooling at the University of Arizona. I am an avid sports fan and believe that academics and extra-curricular activities help to create a well rounded student.

It is my honor and privilege to announce that we have been classified as an “A” rated school for the second year in a row, by the Arizona Department of Education. Last year we had an extremely successful year and I am confident this year will be even better.

Here at Legacy we know that you have a choice in education and we are honored that you have chosen us to help make your child’s educational experience a great one. Legacy Traditional School’s mission is to provide motivated students with the opportunity to achieve academic excellence in an accelerated, back-to-basics, safe learning environment taught by caring, knowledgeable and highly effective educators in cooperation with supportive, involved parents.

Parents play a vital role in the success of our students and school. This year we have created two goals in which we will need your help in achieving them. Our first goal is to have an average attendance rate of 96% throughout the school year. Our second goal is to have over 10,000 clocked volunteer hours. We know that we can achieve these goals with your help!! Please check our weekly Golden Quill for ways that you can help us reach these goals.

I believe that useful communication is a key component in helping us succeed as a learning community. It is my goal to have administration, teachers and staff provide timely and helpful information to families through individual class newsletters, The Golden Quill weekly newsletter, email, flyers, and through Facebook.
