Dear Athlos Families,
Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year. Last year we had an extremely successful year and I am confident this year will be even better. We have doubled our staff and more than doubled our student enrollment. This means, we have even more amazing leaders teaching our students and a greater population of students we are fortunate to reach and prepare for their futures.
Thank you for choosing Athlos as your school. Athlos has such a positive culture that thrives in its high expectations for staff, students and parents. I believe that all students can be successful at Athlos when you and your families are committed to academic success. At Athlos, students are constantly engaged in lessons and we strive to create enthusiastic learners in each classroom.
This year marks my fifth year with Legacy Traditional Schools and second year at Athlos. It has been such a pleasure to be a part of a growing charter organization which focuses everything around high student performance. Prior to working for this district, I was a special education teacher in Manhattan Beach, California. I earned my Bachelor degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Special Education. Due to my passion for learning, I continued on to obtain my Masters of Elementary Education degree with a Reading Endorsement at Northern Arizona University. Then, while being perfectly happy teaching, I was presented with many leadership opportunities that led me to the University of Southern California where I completed the Educational Doctorate program in K-12 Leadership.
Through all of my experiences, Athlos is truly home and will be the school of choice for my two children when they are school age. Athlos is a wonderful place to be. It is a school where everyone contributes to our learning community and students excel beyond expectations. I look forward to getting to know all of you through the years. Enjoy the school year.
